‘We began our China Tea three days ago, & I find it very good my companions know nothing of the matter.’ Jane Austen, Friday 31 May 1811

This loose-leaf black tea has smooth roasted chestnut notes, the golden tips of the young leaf buds lending delicacy and sweetness. When infused in hot water, the leaves give a red liquor with a satisfying malty character.

It is grown in South West China's Yunnan Province, where the mountainous terrain and moist, mild breezes from the Indian and Pacific oceans provide perfect growing conditions.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s devoted sister Cassandra, this tea is supplied to Jane Austen’s House by Twinings, where the Austen family purchased their own tea.

The attractive packaging features the Chawton Rosebud Moire wallpaper.
