PUFFIN PATHWAY TO SKIING – 3–4 YEARS OLD

Our Puffin Pathway gently introduces young children (ages 3–4) to skiing in three calm, confidence-building stages. Everything is taught at a relaxed pace with plenty of encouragement and fun woven in — no pressure, no rushing, just a positive early start to skiing.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your session start time.
This allows time to get fitted with boots and helmets. Equipment fitting is not part of the 30-minute session.

Important: All persons taking part must wear GLOVES.

STEP 1: GETTING USED TO THE GEAR
30 minutes – £15 (1:1 session)

This gentle introduction takes place indoors and/or at ground level. Your child becomes familiar with ski boots, helmet and gloves in a calm, playful setting.

This step includes:
• Trying on ski boots, helmet and gloves
• Moving around indoors to get used to the weight of the equipment
• Optional gentle tubing while wearing the gear to understand how sliding feels

Children do not go on the slope with skis during this stage.

Some children take to the equipment quickly, others prefer more time — both are completely normal. You are welcome to repeat Step 1 as many times as your child needs.


STEP 2: DISCOVERING SLIDING
£30 per 30-minute 1:1 session

Once your child is comfortable in the equipment, they begin exploring gentle movement on the slope. This is a joyful first introduction to sliding on skis.

This step includes:
• Straight runs only
• Repetition to build confidence, using fun games such as Catch the Glove and Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
• A playful, supportive teaching approach

Parents may be required to help their Puffin back up the slope.


STEP 3: BEGINNING EARLY SKI SKILLS
£30 per 30-minute 1:1 session

This stage mirrors our Penguin lessons but at a slower, age-appropriate pace.

This step includes:
• Early balance and movement skills
• Building towards snowplough
• Building towards snowplough stops
• Building towards snowplough turns
• Learning at a pace that suits them

Every child progresses differently. The instructor will guide them at the pace that is right for them.
Parents may be required to assist their Puffin on the slope.
