With the new the Tier 2 restrictions in London, Whitechapel Gallery will be following government COVID-secure guidance
Whitechapel Gallery as a COVID-secure venue we can host more people in total, but no one must mix indoors with anyone who they do not live with (or have formed a support bubble with) unless exemptions apply. If you do visit the Gallery under these circumstances, we will regrettably have to deny entry into the Gallery. At least one person in your group should give their contact details to the venue or check in using the official NHS COVID-19 app so NHS Test and Trace can contact you if needed. Venues that fail to comply with these restrictions may face fines of up to £10,000, prosecution, or in some cases closure.
We understand that the effects of the pandemic do not impact everyone evenly. To better cater for visitors to the gallery who are at greater risk of contracting Covid19, we are offering two weekly time slots for those who consider themselves at greater risk. Higher risk visitors include members of the BAME (Black, Asian Minority Ethnic) communities, and those with specific health conditions or access needs. The allocated time slots are from 12pm - 1pm on Tuesdays and 4pm-5pm on Sundays, we will reduce our usual capacity inside the Gallery by 50%. We are operating on an honesty basis and ask that visitors only use this booking slots if they identify as higher risk or are accompanying a higher risk visitor.
